چکیده
In the combustion chambers of gas turbine engines, ZrO2-8wt.%Y2O3 (YSZ) TBCs are commonly applied by air plasma spray (APS) using Ar-/H2-based plasmas via legacy torches. Alternatively, N2/H2 could be used with potential increasing overall deposition efficiency (DE) and hence reduce consumption high-value feedstock powder. Also, DE, spraying time would reduced, thereby providing another contribution to bring down production costs. this work, were prepared Ar- N2-based different YSZ powders Metco 9MB torch. The use resulted in higher particle temperature lower velocity values than those provided Ar-based plasma. measured DEs between 41-43 53-60% for plasmas, respectively. This represents a ~ 40% increase DE. coatings produced two exhibited equivalent porosity levels 11-13%. On average, lowest thermal conductivity given LD-B TBC. furnace cycle test, performance was superior that Ar plasma, also exceeding an industrial APS TBC benchmark.

Morphology and thermal conductivity of yttria-stabilized zirconia coatings
An electron beam directed vapor deposition method was used to grow 7 wt.% Y2O3–ZrO2 (7YSZ) coatings and the effects of substrate rotation upon the coating porosity, morphology, texture, and thermal conductivity were explored. As the rotation rate was increased, the texture changed from Æ111æ to Æ100æ. Under stationary deposition, the coatings were composed of straight columns, while low-frequen...

Partially stabilized zirconia (PSZ) has been proven to be an excellent candidate as a thermal barrier coating (TBe) for hot sections in, for instance, heat or internal combustion engines and gas turbine parts. The main functions of these coatings are reducing heat losses, reducing fuel consumption, increasing efficiency, and extending durability and life. One of the main problems involved is we...
متن کاملTHE EFFECTS OF PLASMA SPRAY PARAMETERS ON THE MICROSTRUCTURE AND PHASE COMPOSITION OF THERMAL BARRIER COATINGS MADE BY SPPS PROCESS
In this paper the effect of plasma spray parameters, atomizing gas and substrate preheat temperature on microstructure and phase composition of YSZ coatings produced by SPPS process have been investigated. The experimental results showed that increasing the power of plasma, using hydrogen as the precursor atomizing gas and increasing substrate preheat temperature decrease the amount of non-pyro...
متن کاملComparative Study of Plasma Sprayed Yittria and Ceria Stabilized Zirconia Properties
Thermal Barrier Coatings are subjected to spallation and destabilization due to hot corrosion.Recently, Ceria Stabilized Zirconia (CSZ)-based TBCs have been intensively investigated for the YSZreplacement because CSZ has a much lower thermal conductivity and a higher expected thermalexpansion coefficient than those of YSZ. In this research, Yttria stabilized zirconia (YSZ) andceria stabilized z...

Abstract. Cubic crystalline oxides such as Y2O3 and MgO is used to stabalized zirconia phases at high temperature. In this paper the Y2O3 powder was added to stabilized zirconia and preparing a mixture of MgAl2O4 Spinel by mixing 1mol of nano-MgO with 1 mol of nano-Al2O3 powders. The spinel was added to the Y2O3-ZrO2 by various weight percentage (5, 10, 15, 20 and 25 wt%), and after that the sp...
